(Texas).- The Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas has confirmed plans to build the new Naskila Casino Resort on tribal land in Leggett, East Texas, rather than on the reservation as previously assumed.

Alabama-Coushatta Tribe Announces Naskila Casino Resort in Leggett

The announcement was made by Cecilia Flores, chairwoman of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribal Council, during a meeting with the Polk County Commissioners Court.

“We have received confirmation from the National Indian Gaming Commission that the Leggett land is eligible for gaming,” Flores stated. “This allows us to move forward with the development of Naskila Casino Resort, bringing new jobs and economic opportunities to the region.”

Currently, the tribe operates Naskila Casino, which opened in 2016 with 365 Class II gaming devices. Today, the casino features over 900 Class II machines, two cafes, a gift shop, and the Ischoopa Travel Center, making it a major employer in Polk County with an annual payroll of $22.5 million. With over $212 million invested in East Texas, Naskila Casino is recognized as an important economic driver for the area.

The new casino resort project will include a modern casino floor, hotel accommodations, diverse dining options, family-friendly attractions, and entertainment venues. The expansion is expected to create 1,000 new jobs, further boosting the local economy.

The tribe has partnered with architecture firm FFKR to design the resort, aiming to deliver an exceptional destination for both locals and visitors. Groundbreaking is planned for later this year, marking the next chapter in Naskila Casino’s growth in East Texas gaming and hospitality.
