(Madrid).- Cordish, one of the most important multinationals in America, has spoken: the company has its sights set on Madrid, where it would like to locate one of the most important casino projects in the world. The place chosen would be Torres de Alameda and there are plans to build several play spaces and entertainment venues that would include restaurants, cinemas and shopping areas.
If Cordish manages to carry out this project, he would achieve a milestone: make his way to the European continent and penetrate, through the upper door, into Spain. According to the socialist Carlos Sáez, the multinational is "in love" with this enclave and according to forecasts it is estimated that it can not only be a boost for the local economy but also for the national economy, with the creation of more than 56,000 jobs.
The mayor not only wants to host this idea with the aim of installing a large leisure and games area. His wish is that these same facilities be the venue for important events at a national and international level. Something that, without a doubt, would mean direct competition to facilities that until now have carried out this type of event, such as IFEMA.
THE COMMUNITY OF MADRID HAS THE DECISION
Everything depends on what the community of Madrid deliberates in the coming months. The first project known as Euro Vegas has already been rejected for reasons that were undoubtedly as shocking as they were discrepant. One of them was the fact of thinking that this type of enclave was more typical of foreign countries such as America and that efforts had to be made to extol Spanish culture instead of American culture. That is why, this time, the largest flamenco tablao in the world has been included in the project.
Cordish sent a proposal to the Community of Madrid and several politicians echoed the information. Aguirre was the mayor who terminated the proposal for EuroVegas 2012 and 9 years later, it will be Ayuso and his party who will decide whether, this time, one of the most important projects of recent years will see the light of day.
DO CASINOS WORK IN SPAIN?
Despite the fact that online gambling is more present every day, for now, players prefer to continue betting on physical casinos. In 2018, the physical game generated a total of 2.07 million euros. Being the casino halls the ones that contributed with the highest percentage (49.7%), followed by bingo and betting. 888, one of the best online casinos and also one of the most famous among the Spanish public, raised 980 million dollars last year. This trend seems to be on the rise.
The gaming sector had profit margins of €749 million in 2019. This represents an increase of 7.15% compared to the previous year. The data confirms that sports betting followed by casinos are the models that produce the most money.
It is still early to know what the decision of the community of Madrid will be. What is clear is that the news has already been echoed throughout the Spanish territory and only time will tell if we can see how a project is built that could drastically lower unemployment rates in the community of Madrid and employ thousands of citizens.
