(Beloit).- The Beloit casino and resort project is moving toward a September 2026 launch, bringing more than 1,000 jobs and expanding competition in the Midwest gaming market.

Ho-Chunk Beloit Casino Set for 2026 Opening as Wisconsin Gaming Competition Intensifies

Construction of the Ho-Chunk Gaming Beloit casino and hotel project in Wisconsin remains on schedule for a 2026 opening, as regional competition in the gaming industry continues to grow.

Leaders from the Ho-Chunk Nation confirmed that development of the large-scale casino resort in Beloit is progressing as planned. Construction officially began in October 2024 at the southeast corner of Willowbrook and Colley roads.

Ho-Chunk Beloit casino to feature 1,500 gaming machines and hotel resort

The new gaming destination will include a casino floor spanning more than 240,000 square feet, featuring approximately 1,500 gaming machines, live entertainment venues, and more than six food and beverage outlets.

The project will also include a hotel with over 200 guest rooms, although tribal leaders indicated the final room count could increase depending on future market demand.

Ho-Chunk Nation President Jon Greendeer said the target date for the casino’s grand opening is Sept. 26, 2026. The hotel portion of the development is expected to open later, with a projected launch in mid-2027.

Wisconsin casino market heats up as Hard Rock Rockford expands

The Beloit project arrives as competition intensifies across the regional casino market.

Hard Rock Casino Rockford recently announced plans to open its own hotel by late 2027, citing the upcoming Beloit casino as a major factor behind the expansion.

According to Hard Rock Casino Rockford President Geno Iafrate, the company is preparing to defend its market position as new gaming competition emerges less than 20 miles away.

Despite the rivalry, Greendeer said competition is a normal part of the gaming industry and emphasized that the Ho-Chunk Nation’s regional roots and customer experience strategy will help distinguish the Beloit resort.

“We are the best gaming industry in the Midwest without a doubt,” Greendeer said, adding that the project is designed to generate economic benefits for both Wisconsin and Illinois communities.

Ho-Chunk Nation highlights cultural connection to Beloit

Greendeer also stressed the tribe’s longstanding cultural ties to the Beloit area, describing the region as an important part of Ho-Chunk heritage.

Visitors to the future casino and resort will reportedly see Ho-Chunk culture integrated throughout the property through artwork, architecture, and historical design elements connected to the tribe’s presence in Beloit.

Beloit casino project expected to create over 1,000 jobs

Local officials and developers expect the casino and resort development to generate more than 1,000 jobs while creating new opportunities for local businesses and vendors.

South Beloit Mayor Tom Fitzgerald said the project could increase tourism traffic through the area and potentially support nearby small businesses, even though the city will not directly share in casino profits.

Greendeer noted that local “mom-and-pop” businesses are expected to benefit significantly from the development, as the project aims to rely heavily on regional vendors and workforce talent.

As construction continues, the Ho-Chunk Nation has already started organizing hiring events ahead of the casino’s planned opening in 2026.
