(Las Vegas).- Former Las Vegas Mayor Jan Jones Blackhurst is bowing out as Caesars Entertainment’s Executive Vice President of Public Policy and Corporate Responsibility and taking a seat on the company’s board of directors.
The company posted a regulatory filing Friday announcing the change. Jones Blackhurst’s resignation is effective October 1.
She’s replacing Richard Schifter, who stepped down from the board Thursday. Caesars did not give a reason for the departure, but affirmed “there were no disagreements between Mr. Schifter and the company that caused or contributed to his decision.”
Jones Blackhurst was elected mayor in 1991 — the first woman to hold the office — and served until 1999. She is also on the U.S. Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
