Macau May GGR Seen Rising at Least 6.6% on Post-Labour Day Demand Boost

Casino gross gaming revenue (GGR) in Macau is projected to post solid growth in May 2026, rising at least 6.6% year-on-year and potentially reaching 8.5%, according to analysts from CLSA Ltd and Seaport Research Partners.

The positive outlook is driven by strong performance during the Labour Day Golden Week period and expectations of sustained demand in the days following the holiday stretch. The five-day holiday, running from May 1 to May 5 and declared by State Council of China, is a key travel window for mainland Chinese visitors—Macau’s primary tourism market.

Visitor arrivals reached 632,951 between May 1 and May 3, marking a 5% increase compared to the same period last year. Analysts highlight that healthy minimum bets across mass and premium gaming segments are supporting revenue growth.

CLSA estimates May GGR will reach approximately MOP22.6 billion (US$2.80 billion), implying an average daily revenue of MOP729 million, in line with March performance. The firm also noted a growing trend of premium-mass players visiting during off-peak periods, which could drive a “strong tail end” of demand after the holiday period.

Meanwhile, Seaport Research Partners forecasts an even stronger 8.5% year-on-year increase, citing high hotel occupancy and robust visitation trends. Analysts also suggest that some trips initially planned for April may have been deferred to May, further boosting performance.

Recent on-the-ground checks across major Cotai resorts—including Galaxy Macau, The Venetian Macao, The Londoner Macao, MGM Cotai, City of Dreams, and Wynn Palace—showed rising foot traffic from midday onward, with minimum bets commonly ranging from HKD1,000 to HKD2,000 on mass tables and up to HKD5,000 in higher-limit areas.

Additionally, new side bets such as “Monkey no Monkey” and “Pairs+” are being introduced across properties, which analysts believe could gradually enhance win rates as player adoption increases.
