(Macau).- Melco Resorts & Entertainment will shut down Grand Dragon Casino in Taipa and Mocha Kuong Fat in downtown Macau this week, reallocating tables, machines, and staff to consolidate operations.
Melco Resorts & Entertainment Ltd. has announced that it will officially cease operations at its Grand Dragon Casino in Taipa tonight at 11:59 p.m., followed by the closure of Mocha Kuong Fat in downtown Macau on Wednesday at 11:59 p.m.
In a statement issued Friday, the company confirmed that all gaming tables from Grand Dragon Casino will be reallocated to its flagship City of Dreams Casino in Cotai. Electronic gaming machines from the closing Mocha venue will be redistributed across other Melco properties, including Altira Macau, City of Dreams, and Studio City.
Melco emphasized that the closures are part of a broader strategic review aimed at consolidating its Macau operations. The decision was reviewed and approved by the Macau SAR government.
To reduce the impact on employees, Melco plans to reassign affected staff to other roles within its operations. Approximately 175 workers at Casino Grand Dragon and 35 workers at Mocha Kuong Fat will be impacted.
To ensure a smooth transition for patrons, the company has confirmed that chips and vouchers will remain valid across its other properties:
Grand Dragon Casino chips can be exchanged at the Melco Club/Signature Club counter at Altira Casino starting September 23, 2025.
Customers of the closing Mocha Clubs can continue to use their TITO gaming slips at Mocha Inner Harbor, Mocha Golden Dragon, and Mocha Sintra Hotel, which will remain operational.
Melco stated that “all customers’ rights are safeguarded after the cessation of these operations,” underscoring its commitment to a customer-focused transition.
