New 'Silverado' Hotel-Casino Proposed for South of the Las Vegas Strip

(Las Vegas).- A massive 404,000-square-foot casino and hotel development dubbed 'Silverado' has been proposed for the south end of Las Vegas Boulevard. If approved, the complex will transform a long-abandoned site into a new gaming and entertainment destination.
A sprawling new casino and hotel could soon be coming to the northwest tip of Las Vegas Boulevard in Enterprise. Dubbed Silverado, the 13.5-acre development is proposed to be built on the site of the former SkyVue Ferris Wheel, an area known for its unfinished pillars that have sat abandoned since 2011.
The project, owned and driven by the Ochoa Development Corporation, would place the new resort directly alongside the popular South Point Casino. The developer has proposed splitting the construction into two distinct phases to manage the massive rollout.
Resort Features and Amenities
To meet local regulations, the project's initial plans for an 874‑room tower had to be scaled back. The current proposal outlines a six-story hotel and gaming complex featuring 450 rooms.
The Silverado aims to be a comprehensive entertainment hub. In addition to a state-of-the-art gaming floor, the development will include:
42,000 square feet of dedicated convention and meeting space.
Multiple restaurants, bars, and retail outlets.
A luxury spa, fitness facilities, and an expansive pool area.
A massive five-story parking garage to accommodate guests and visitors.
Regulatory Hurdles and Future Steps
Despite the ambitious plans, the Silverado project still has several significant hurdles to clear. As of now, the development has not secured official funding, nor has a gaming operator been attached to manage the casino floor.
The proposal is scheduled to go before the Clark County Zoning Commission on September 2. Industry insiders, including Vital Vegas, anticipate that the development will likely face strong pushback, particularly from Michael Gaughan, the owner of the neighboring South Point Casino, as the new resort would bring direct competition to his doorstep.
