Panama: Gambling Control Committee to negotiate to open bank accounts

Nowadays, casinos suffer due to a lack of attention with regard to the opening of bank accounts, which limitates them at the moment of performing cash transactions, remarked Manuel Sánchez, new JCJ director.

The officer ponted that casinos have an agreement with the country and are object of a permanent supervision by the Financial Analysis Unit (UAF), by the Control of the Local Government and the Regulation of Non-Financial Entities and by JCJ.

“They comply with very strict requirements to attend bettors and, among other norms, they demand laws against money laundering, terrorism funding and the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, so we have to pay attention to it," Sanchez remarked.

He said that, in this sense, they have given us the first step to reach an agreement with the savings bank, so casinos operators and their collaborators may have access to a bank account.
