Swiss Casinos selects Playtech for online launch

(Switzerland).- Land-based casino operator Swiss Casinos has begun preparing to launch online through a new partnership with Playtech.
With the Swiss market to be opened up to iGaming for the first time from January 2019, Swiss Casinos has struck a deal with the iGaming solutions giant to power its online offering.
The legislation, passed by the country’s ruling Federal Council, limits iGaming to the country’s land-based casino operators, which can apply to have their licence extended to cover the online channel from January.
“We are extremely excited to have found an internationally experienced and innovative partner in Playtech,” Swiss Casinos Group chief executive Marc Baumann said. “We will now be able to offer our customers in Switzerland an attractive iGaming offering.”
Playtech chief operating officer Shimon Akad added that his company was pleased to have partnered Switzerland’s leading casino brand.
“Playtech has a long history of success in cooperation with leading brands in the world’s most important gambling markets, and we are looking forward to a long and successful partnership with Swiss Casinos,” he said.
The company, which owns casinos in Pfäffikon , Schaffhausen, St Gallen and Zürich, said that it is preparing to file its iGaming licence application to the Swiss Federal Gaming Board, and hopes to secure its licence by Autumn 2019.
