(Mexico).- The Mexican Esports Federation wants a regulation to organize events, professionalization of gamers and the standardization of rules.
The value of the videogames industry in Mexico is estimated in US$ 1,4 billion, which places the country as the main economy in this industry in Latin America, accordin to the Mexican Esports Federation (Femes in Spanish).
Ismael Silva, President of Femes, assures that one of the obstacles that the sector faces is the lack of regulation that should be held in three sectors: surveillance of the conditions of eSports events, professionalization and homologation of rules.
“It is incredible that there are videogame events which involve organizers to pay a jackpot and the payment has to reach players 180 days later, with up to one year extension. It must be assured that you have the money for the jackpot before its organization," indicated Silva, who says that he knows players who have had to wait up to three years to receive a 1,500 pesos jackpot.
In France, where there is a regulation on the matter, a company or association must be authorized by the Ministry before it decides to hire players and organize tournaments, and, before its approval, organizers must demonstrate conditions of financial balance to respect its rules and avoid sanctions.
With regard to the homologation of the rules, Femes assures that it is important for all the players to compete under the same frame, no matter if they play in Mexico City, Chiapas or South Korea.
"Players must perform their sports development under the rules handled internationally, so they can reach professionalization. It is a sport and we will treat it as such, from our position of trainer, player or organizer."
Regarding the brands added to the performance of tournaments, Silva enhanced the efforts to perform and communicate eSports tournaments.
