Altenar Targets Africa’s Evolving Gaming Market at Gaming AFRIKA Summit

Kenya represents one of Africa’s most dynamic betting markets, with industry revenues exceeding $100 million in 2024 and projections reaching approximately $831 million in 2025.

Across the wider region, Africa’s betting industry is projected to reach $17.63 billion by 2025, underlining its status as a high-growth market.

Despite this growth, operators across African markets face several structural challenges. These include fragmented and evolving regulatory frameworks, high taxation pressure, payment limitations despite widespread mobile money usage, and the need for deep localisation across diverse audiences.

Additional hurdles include infrastructure inconsistencies, varying levels of digital maturity, and intense competition in mobile-first environments. These factors make scalability, compliance, and long-term player retention particularly complex.

Altenar will attend the summit to support operators in overcoming these challenges. With extensive experience around the world, the company already understands the operational and technical demands required to succeed across Africa and has a track record of helping operators unlock their ambitions and turn them into growth.

Yiannis Mamfredas, Head of Platform Account Managers at Altenar, said: “Flexibility is at the core of our approach. African markets demand solutions that can quickly adapt to regulatory changes, local payment ecosystems, and evolving player behavior.

“We already understand the key challenges operators face across the region, from compliance and taxation to localisation and retention. Our sportsbook platform is designed to address these directly through modular architecture, advanced risk management, and seamless integration with local providers.

“This flexibility allows our partners to scale efficiently, optimise performance, and deliver tailored user experiences that drive sustainable growth in highly competitive markets.”
