Altenar will take part in SiGMA South America in São Paulo, where the company will raise a critical industry question: why are so many operators still not placing sportsbooks at the centre of their strategy?
Brazil’s iGaming market is booming, but many operators remain in a comfort zone. While local brands continue to rely heavily on casino products, global leaders are increasingly focusing on sports betting.
The reason is clear: sportsbooks drive deeper engagement and stronger long-term retention.
The numbers support this shift. By the end of 2025, Brazil’s licensed betting sector generated R$37 billion in GGR (approximately $7.5 billion USD), marking the first full year of a regulated online market.
In this context, treating a sportsbook as a secondary product is no longer a conservative approach - it’s a missed commercial opportunity.
Co-Founder and COO Dinos Stranomitis will address this during the panel “The Undefined Value of Sports Betting in Brazil.”
The message is clear: future leaders will be those who scale beyond casino by embracing sportsbooks. Altenar’s ongoing expansion in São Paulo reflects this direction - toward more balanced, data-driven operations where sportsbooks play a central role.
Luana Monje, Sales Executive at Altenar Brazil, commented: “The sports betting market is evolving faster than many operators are ready to admit. Operators who act now on sportsbooks will lead in retention and lifetime value.
“The real risk is waiting too long to take it seriously.”
