(Italy, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Diego Mendez was present at ENADA Spring representing Global Starnet Limited. There, he spoke exclusively with SoloAzar about the current situation of the company and the Italian market.
Global Starnet is one of the ten dealerships in Italy for the legal game of machines. "We operate two business lines. One has to do with AWP (Amusement with prize) machines, which are bar machines, the equivalent of a Spanish B-Class. They are machines of predetermined cycle that pay 70% to the player, have a limit of stinks of one euro and the prize of 100. The second line of business is the VLT part, which are class 3 machines, which in Italy are operated in rooms dedicated. There are no casinos, so they are all rooms. There are 4 casinos, which are municipal, and the rest is operated in rooms with a maximum of 150 machines, however, the average is small rooms with between 10 and 20 machines. Of those there are 56,000 and we as a company operate 8,500 at the moment and have 15,000 licenses available. In the second level of business, we are the largest operator,"said Mendez about the company.
About the current market in Italy and the current edition of the ENADA Spring show, the executive said: "This show, at this time has a problem that is the regulation change. The law has already come out, but there is no technical decree that applies it, so at this moment nobody knows what it will be like. In addition, by law a reduction in Italy of this type of machines was imposed. We had 400,000 and a law that came out 3 months ago obliges us to reduce the number of machines to 35%. This type of things has made a show like this, especially at this moment, important for tradition, and for being a point of reference for our market. That's why you cannot not being in Rimini. However, from a business point of view, it is not very representative because nobody really buys anything at this time, and an operator cannot change network, dealership, because none can now guarantee rights to connect. It is all saturated and we also have to reduce. The business is now penalized by regulation."
Regarding his presence at the event, Mendez said that on this occasion what the company presented was its continuity. "The firm comes from a difficult period with the Italian justice, because the old property of the company has been implicated in judicial investigations, then the company has been placed under guardianship by the government and currently we have two judicial administrators who deal, and that means a lot in tax contributions. Therefore, being here is for us to say that the company continues as before, that we are operating normally and we are also growing, "he said.
Global Starnet Limited will also be present at ENADA Roma, which takes place in October. But the next fair takes them as visitors to FADJA, in Colombia. "We are interested in the change of regulation and see how the regulator is implementing it, because the change in regulation that will be in Italy will be very similar."
