How AI and gamification are redefining player retention in Brazil’s regulated iGaming market, at BiS SiGMA Americas

(São Paulo).- As the Brazilian iGaming landscape continues to evolve under increasingly stringent regulatory frameworks, the industry’s focus is shifting from short-term acquisition tactics to sustainable retention models. During a panel discussion at BiS SiGMA Americas 2025, “Beyond bonuses: AI and gamification strategies for sustainable retention in Brazil,” sector leaders dissected how emerging technologies are reshaping player engagement and redefining compliance.
The panel, proudly supported by Fast Track, brought together some of LATAM’s most prominent figures in gaming and regulatory strategy, each contributing their expertise to the conversation. These included Helena do Couto, Regional Legal Officer for LATAM at Eeze, Muriel Le Senechal, Regional Commercial Manager for LATAM at Fast Track, Beatriz Melges, Regional Director Brazil at SoftConstruct, and João Alves, Chief Marketing Officer at NossaBet.
The discussion opened with a clear consensus: Traditional retention levers, such as sign-up bonuses and cashback promotions, are no longer effective in Brazil’s maturing market. With regulatory oversight tightening across the board, operators must transition towards mechanisms that balance personalised engagement with responsible gaming principles. The industry, it seems, must go beyond the standard “quick fix” strategies and adopt more thoughtful, sustainable models.
AI as an anchor of player-centric strategies
Muriel Le Senechal of Fast Track emphasised the critical role artificial intelligence plays in building agile, real-time engagement infrastructures. AI, she explained, empowers operators to understand user behaviour at a detailed level, enabling the delivery of personalised experiences that adapt to a player’s journey rather than interrupt it. By leveraging AI-driven segmentation and predictive analytics, operators can mitigate customer turnover by proactively identifying risk behaviours and engagement dropoffs, thus enhancing retention without breaching regulatory thresholds. This technology-driven approach allows for a deeper understanding of player preferences, paving the way for more effective engagement strategies that align with both business goals and regulatory requirements.
Gamified design for long-term player value
From the operator’s perspective, João Alves of NossaBet highlighted the increasing importance of gamified environments in encouraging loyalty. He noted that gamification is not just about adding superficial features to keep players entertained, but about embedding value into every user interaction. Features like progression tracking, achievements, and reward ecosystems can help build a community around the platform rather than simply a transactional relationship. Alves said that gamification, when done thoughtfully, fosters long-term engagement, turning casual players into loyal advocates without relying solely on traditional bonuses.
Beatriz Melges from SoftConstruct mentioned how gamification can transform the player experience by adding layers and interactive challenges. This approach, she explained, moves platforms beyond basic gameplay mechanics and towards creating immersive entertainment hubs. By offering a more engaging and rewarding experience, gamification allows operators to deepen the connection with their players, encouraging sustained interaction while also promoting responsible gaming practices. This deeper engagement, Melges added, is essential in fostering loyalty and ensuring that players remain connected to the platform in a meaningful way.
Compliance as motivation, not a constraint
Helena do Couto, the Regional Legal Officer for LATAM at Eeze, offered a reminder about the importance of aligning innovation with compliance. While the legal landscape in Brazil is continually evolving, do Couto stressed that operators must prioritise regulatory alignment to protect both their businesses and their players. Rather than viewing regulation as an obstacle, she suggested that it can be a motivation for smarter innovation. By integrating AI and gamification within a compliance framework, operators can offer more sophisticated, ethical, and transparent player experiences that meet regulatory standards while driving long-term engagement. Do Couto’s insights highlighted the critical need for operators to balance innovation with responsibility, ensuring that new strategies are not only engaging but also fully compliant with local regulations.

The panel concluded with a powerful message: the era of blanket bonuses is fading, and the future lies in more intelligent, sustainable retention models. The shift towards AI-driven insights and gamified experiences represents a new paradigm in player engagement, one that combines technology with responsibility. As the Brazilian regulatory landscape continues to mature, operators who adapt to these changes will find themselves better positioned to foster long-term player relationships. In a market where the focus is now on sustainability rather than scalability, AI and gamification offer the tools necessary to create lasting, meaningful engagement that resonates with players and regulators alike.
