´I’m excited that we have the possibility to work in the Latam market´: Gregory Penkov, SOFTSWISS

What has the participation of the company consisted of?

For SOFTSWISS, it is a great possibility to make our first steps in the dynamic Latin American market, so I visited Latam for the first time last December when I went to the Brazilian iGaming Summit 2021. After that, I understood that we were ready to enter this market, but we needed to take several steps. First, we needed to hire a local manager who speaks Spanish and Portuguese and knows the market well, so we did it! Another significant part of our work is to participate in local events and share information about our brand and solutions to make it well-known in this region as well. We have already attended four events recently but Johnatan, our local representative, made these steps alone. We also visited Argentina and Chile. We know Peru Gaming Show is a big event, so last month, we decided to have a stand here to check what’s going on around to understand how people meet our brand. We will also participate in the next Brazilian iGaming Show and visit future events for the iGaming industry in Latam to expand our brand presence in the market.

What is your opinion and expectation with regard to the future online gaming regulation in Peru?

As I know, local operators now use the Curacao licence, and we have this licence for all our products. It is our advantage! We don’t have a problem with local operators because we have that licence. Still, if the Peruvian government decides to bring a separate licence with some restrictions and special certifications, we will require to receive that certification to work in the country. So we have time to prepare our documents, our technologies, etc. For example, we will meet with the Argentinian regulator next week to understand their requirements because we will apply for the Argentina certificate.
