(Cartagena).- After three successful days, Gaming & Technology Expo 2022 concluded, with the participation of more than a thousand people who attended from 25 countries, which demonstrates the growth of the industry and the excellent moment that the sector is experiencing throughout the region.

Within the framework of the fair, Coljuegos presented the figures that showed that after the pandemic, the industry achieved an accelerated reactivation of 31%, exceeding gross income by more than 45 billion pesos. Similarly, the growth of internet-operated games was shown, reaching 179% between 2019 and 2021.


The President of this entity, César Valencia Galiano, specified that the participation by type of game in Colombia is distributed as follows: sports betting 74.7%, followed by casino and virtual games with 34.11% and casinos live 11%.


As for localized games, the average net monthly sales for the last quarter of 2021 reached 170 billion pesos, with a growth of 11% compared to the same period in 2019.


Faced with the actions to control the illegal operation in Colombia, Valencia indicated that they have withdrawn 31,120 illegal elements; 7,305 blocking orders have been issued to illegal pages and 72 high-traffic profiles; In addition, 325 operations were carried out in 2021.


The event allowed a better understanding of the dynamics of eSports that, in 2021, billed more than 1,200 million dollars in Colombia, surpassing traditional sports betting.


"The gaming meridian definitely passes through Colombia, its strategic geographical position, its permanent advances in regulatory issues and the progressive recovery of post-pandemic casino operators were evident at GAT EXPO 2022," José Aníbal Aguirre, creator and organizer of the fair, assured.


"Also evident was the huge impact of new generation gaming such as e-Sports and esports on their way to being regulated as gambling in various jurisdictions." He finished the directive, expressing his satisfaction with the goals achieved.
