(Miami, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Marianela Artoni, Product and Innovation Manager at Enjoy, spoke with SoloAzar within the recent SBC Latin America event. There she commented on the activity of the company and the current situation in the sector in Chile, as well as the need for Enjoy to diversify and start operating in the online world, among other topics.

´We are working so that the customer that is playing online chooses Enjoy´

What can you tell us about your participation in SBC Latin America?
We came to try to understand where the online market in Latin America is going, and which are the main players. We are working hard at Enjoy to start diversifying the land-based world that we all know a bit. It is a company that has lived in the land-based world for 45 years. But the online world is coming and one cannot be left behind, so we are working to see how we can, with our same client, share it in the online and physical world. See how the customer who is playing today in the online world plays with Enjoy.

Regulation has to accompany us, in Chile the market is not yet regulated, for locals. As you know, there are a lot of foreign companies that operate in Chile today without paying taxes, therefore, it would be good if it was opened for everyone.

What can you highlight about SBC?
What I highlight is the amount of good people with high positions who want to show their company, to talk about what they are doing, to share their experience. There are companies in the online world that have been working for a long time and sometimes from the outside one may think that they are new companies but no, they are companies that have been in the sector for 10 or 15 years, working hard on sports betting. They have a lot of experience and we are starting on that path, we have a lot to learn from good practices, from other jurisdictions. Many people from countries such as Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay came to the event, so it is a good opportunity to take good practices from jurisdictions where they did things well and we aim to do it well in Chile, too.

We obtained contacts from content providers and platforms, and it was very useful for us to see what products do they have and how are they facing every market.

I imagine that other operators are also trying to enter in the online gaming sector.
I believe that everyone should be entering the online world, but today it is an investment without any legal backing, because since gambling is not regulated, you have to see how far you invest. We started in July 2020, in the middle of the pandemic, with the casinos closed, we launched enjoywin.net, it is a social site, it is not for real money, where our clients could enter, play, but for fun. I think that as we did it, other operators have done it, but hey, it is our basis so that when online gambling is regulated, we can change the switch and have everything as ready as possible. The page also allows us to start educating the customer base that is not so used to online gaming, so it was a very good learning experience for us to start sharing with customers. We zoomed in on the full pandemic teaching them how to register, how to play, what to expect, and it really is a very good experience.

How will you close the year? What are your short-term goals?
I would love to be able to close the year by saying that the market in Chile was regulated, but with all the political turmoil there is, I doubt it. I think that now again the metropolitan region of Chile is regressing a phase due to the COVID issue, so I think I came with that bitter taste and I hope that things continue normal in Chile, and in Punta del Este, Uruguay, where we now open on November 4, in Mendoza. Hopefully this pandemic will allow us to continue operating and be in contact with our customers, that customers can arrive, that we can spend the summer, which is our strong point, since all Enjoy destinations are in summer tourist places. In short, let's hope that little by little everything returns to normal.
