(Tallahasee).- The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) has been awarded the Regulatory Excellence Award from the International Association of Gaming (IAGR) regulators.
Recognizing Regulatory Excellence in Florida
This prestigious award is presented annually to a gambling regulator who best demonstrates excellence in gaming policy, regulation, compliance and enforcement outcomes.
In presenting FGCC with the award, IAGR CEO Kevin Mullally said, “The Florida Gaming Control Commission’s coordinated approach to combating illegal gambling has produced impressive results. Its strategy illustrates the power of collaboration. I congratulate the Commission and everyone involved in this effort, and we appreciate its enthusiasm for supporting IAGR’s international efforts to combat illegal online gambling. They are a deserving winner of the 2026 IAGR Regulatory Excellence Award.”
As the first statewide law enforcement agency created in Florida since 1967, FGCC has made a dramatic impact since its creation in July of 2022. FGCC has seized more than 14,000 illegal slot machines and more than $24 million in illegal gambling proceeds. In the past year alone, the agency shut down 184 illegal gambling arcades and made 160 arrests. Its investigations have also helped combat illegal narcotics, illegal firearms, and dog betting rings associated with criminal gambling operations.
Impact, Enforcement, and Leadership Perspectives
“We are thrilled to receive such a tremendous honor for our very young agency," aid FGCC Chair Julie Brown. “This demonstrates that FGCC is a great team doing things correctly. It also recognizes the strong support of Governor Ron DeSantis, the Florida Legislature, and Attorney General James Uthmeier. We thank the International Association of Gaming Regulators for this extremely prestigious award.” “Illegal gambling operations pose a serious threat to public safety and jeopardize the integrity of gaming in our state,” said Attorney General James Uthmeier.
“My office has worked aggressively alongside the FGCC this year to combat illegal gambling, and we have no intention of slowing down. We will continue our push for tougher criminal penalties to hold illegal gambling operators accountable, strengthen law enforcement efforts, and send a clear message that Illegal gambling has no place in Florida.”
Information on the Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) Gambling machines are permitted only in legal gaming facilities, and legal slot machines are available in eight licensed pari-mutuel facilities in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, as well as at certain facilities operated by the Seminole Tribe of Florida.
