(UK, SoloAzar Exclusive).- Simon Westbury, Head of Sales Department at Digitain, granted an interview to SoloAzar, in which he commented about the current global situation generated due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the challenges and events for the near future, among other issues.
What are Digitain’s latest developments in relation to the the current COVID-19 situation and what feedback has the company received from its partners?
Amidst unprecedented global circumstances, the comprehensive contingency planning at Digitain has fully equipped us to meet this ever-changing situation with a prudency which arises only from preparation. As an intercontinental business, daily communications are carried out via Skype, Zoom and email, and therefore measures were already in place to safeguard against any eventuality.
In times of great adversity, we are still innovating. Due to coronavirus outbreak, traditional gambling has been postponed in many countries. What do you think about the role of online and mobile gambling in the present situation?

While retail betting has been affected by the coronavirus outbreak, online and mobile are both as robust as ever.
The postponement of numerous sports events, and its effect on betting, has provided compensatory growth in other verticals. However, we must also bear in mind that the iGaming community has been emphasising the importance of omni-channel solutions for a number of years now.
While several companies have seen strong growth in online and mobile gaming over a protracted period of time, with the latter rapidly forming the majority of some businesses’ revenue streams. The imperative for people to stay at home will only reinforce this pattern. Though more importantly, the industry must act responsibly and fully adhere to the guidelines of responsible gaming, which we at Digitain are great proponents of.
Regulators have made successive public statements featuring stern warnings on the matter. They must be heeded, and we urge the industry to do all it can to remember that at times like this; it is our actions during these testing times that will be remembered.
