(Macau).- Analysts from Sanford C. Bernstein estimated that gross gaming revenues year-on-year growth should slow down to about 1 per cent in the last two quarters of this year.
The brokerage considered that in the second quarter of this year VIP GGR is estimated declined by approximately 14 per cent year-on-year, while mass growth was estimated ‘to have held up well’ at 12 per cent.
Data from the Gaming Inspection and Co-ordination Bureau (DICJ) seem to show that the amount in VIP revenues generated in the second quarter of this year went down 15.6 per cent year-on-year to MOP34.6 billion (US$4.2 billion), with casino mass-market gaming results increased 18.5 per cent to MOP38.7 billion, although some analysts dispute the government’s assessment.
Meanwhile, gaming operator MGM China is expected to perform the highest growth of gross gaming revenue year-on-year in the second quarter, with Melco Resorts said to benefit from the premium mass segment and ramp-up of Morpheus Tower.
Wynn Macau was said might be able to gain some market share in the VIP market, as Galaxy would have suffered from ‘softness in VIP’.
Sands China is to face tougher sequential comparison and SJM would have a more difficult the year-on-year comparison.
