Of those, about 152,000 visitor arrivals were recorded last Saturday 3 August, which is the highest single-day visitor figure of the summer. This represents 97.8% recovery to the highest single-day figure from the summer of 2019 of around 155,000 visitors.

The MGTO also released the tourism figures for July, which show 3,028,000 visitor arrivals with a daily average of 97,683 – an increase of 9.7% compared with the same period in 2023 and back to 85.8% of July 2019.

The 19.75 million visitor arrivals from January to July this year also represents recovery to 82.9% of the 23.82 million visitors during in the same period of 2019 and is 37.1% higher versus the same period in 2023.

The MGTO said it expects to see various measures introduced by China’s Central Government, including an increase in the duty-free allowance for mainland visitors, providing greater incentive to visit Macau.

“During the summer holidays in August, the MGTO will continue to follow up on various complementary measures to make the best use of the Central Government’s initiatives for the benefit of Macau, and organize and support a number of visitor attraction activities to attract in-depth tours to the region so as to further enrich the tourism experience,” it said.
