New Jersey Reports 5.9% Increase in January Gaming Revenue, Driven by Strong Online Performance

Online Gaming Leads the Charge

A standout performer in January was the internet gaming sector. Revenue from online casino operations and their partners climbed to $258.9 million, reflecting a robust 16.8% increase over the $221.6 million recorded in the same month last year. The double-digit growth highlights the sustained expansion of New Jersey’s digital gaming market and the effectiveness of its regulatory framework in fostering innovation and consumer engagement.

The strong online showing once again demonstrates the strategic importance of digital channels within the state’s diversified gaming ecosystem.

Steady Performance from Land-Based Casinos

The state’s nine casino hotels reported a combined casino win of $213.3 million for January 2026, up 1.6% from the $210.1 million generated in January 2025. While growth in the land-based segment was moderate, the positive trajectory signals stability and resilience in Atlantic City’s brick-and-mortar market during the traditionally slower winter season.

Sports Betting Remains a Major Contributor

Sports wagering gross revenue totaled $114.2 million for the month. Although this figure represents a 6.5% decrease compared to January 2025, the segment continues to deliver significant returns and remains a cornerstone of the state’s overall gaming portfolio, supporting a mature and competitive betting environment across casinos, racetracks, and their partners.

Strong Fiscal Impact

Overall, January’s total gaming revenue of $586.4 million translated into $86.5 million in gross revenue taxes for the state. The combined results reflect a healthy and balanced market structure, where land-based, online, and sports betting verticals collectively contribute to sustained revenue growth.

With a diversified offering and a well-established regulatory framework, New Jersey enters 2026 with encouraging indicators, reinforcing its position as one of the most dynamic and closely watched gaming jurisdictions in the United States.
