(Macau).- Macau received nearly 751,000 visitor arrivals during the first four days of the October Golden Week holiday, breaking single-day arrival records as mainland Chinese tourists flock to the city's tourism and gaming hub.
Record-Breaking Visitor Influx
Macau's Public Security Police reported that aggregate visitor arrivals reached nearly 751,000 during the first four days of the ongoing October Golden Week holiday season. Average daily arrivals stood at just above 187,747 between October 1 and 4, showcasing a strong resurgence in tourism activity.
A Historic Single-Day Milestone
The surge peaked on Sunday, October 4, with 210,325 visitors logging into the city. This figure shattered the previous single-day visitor arrival record for the October Golden Week, which had been set just a day prior on Saturday at 191,702 visitors—eclipsing the prior-year record of 191,176.
Key Feeder Markets and Checkpoints
As a vital festive break for mainland Chinese consumers, mainland China remains the primary feeder market for Macau's tourism and casino sector. The Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) noted that 467,348 visitors during the first three days came from mainland China, alongside 51,423 from Hong Kong. Most travelers entered through major transit points, led by the Border Gate checkpoint, followed by the Hengqin checkpoint and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge.
