The New Betting Sites Which Could Emerge Stronger
⏱ 2 min read
(Sweden).- The suspension of many sports on a global scale in recent times has rocked the betting industry like never before, giving way to a potential sea change when play resumes as normal.
Pause for thought
The suspension of world sports in recent weeks during the busiest time of the sporting calendar is simply unprecedented. With the conclusion of many European football leagues still yet to be fulfilled, the onset of Euro 2020 pushed back a year, and the postponement of India's biggest cricket tournament the IPL, it has left the sporting world in a deep state of shock.
It's also left many betting companies in a deep state of shock, looking to reevaluate their positions and the range of their products with only a smattering of live sport still on offer, rendering even the most bumper sportsbooks near null and void.
Will the UK market see a significant shift?
Britain is a highly competitive and mature market with many of the biggest online bookmakers in the world dominating the UK gambling arena like no other.
However, there are a number of nascent betting sites on tenterhooks looking to further establish themselves, particularly those that offer a unique selling point, whether it be speciality markets, lucrative sign up offers or even fully rounded online casino offerings.
However, the current climate is demonstrating that not all emerging bookmakers are likely to materialise from this recent crisis in as healthy shape as their counterparts. For example, those betting sites that place a heavy emphasis on their sportsbook are likely to suffer in contrast to their competitors that can boast a variety of online casino options.
The likes of Mr Green, LeoVegas and Grosvenor Sports who all lay a heavy emphasis on, or have started life off as online casinos are likely to feel more comfortable in the current climate.
An overview of new betting sites in the UK clearly shows that there are still many options for players looking for sportsbooks or online casino games, often with competitive sign up bonuses.
It leaves the UK as arguably the toughest market to crack for new betting sites, something that is not likely to change any time soon.
The old guard emerges
It will certainly take a lot to displace many of the established betting sites that claim the lion's share of the UK market. But one bookmaker not resting on their laurels is betting giant Betfair.
Still holding deep roots in the UK, a quick look at Betfair offers shows that the range and depth of their online product portfolio is seeing them weather the storm much more surely than others.
With the resumption of many sports, particularly in the UK and Europe, still up for debate it still remains to be seen when a return to action is on the cards.
One thing is for sure though, current circumstances present those with a varied array of products and welcome offers an enhanced ability to gain a greater share of the betting market and to emerge in a stronger position because of it, whether established bookmaker or new betting site.
