(Sydney).- The approval positions Gaming Laboratories International to support operators and suppliers preparing to enter New Zealand’s newly regulated online casino market, combining global testing and compliance expertise with regional support across Asia-Pacific.
New Zealand Advances Its Online Casino Regulatory Framework
Gaming Laboratories International (GLI®) has been approved to provide independent testing services for New Zealand’s newly regulated online casino gambling market, as the country moves forward with the implementation of its new regulatory framework.
The Online Casino Gambling Act 2026 establishes the legal framework for regulated online casino gambling in New Zealand. The Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) has published Minimum Standards and draft Testing and Monitoring Requirements as preparations for the new regime continue.
The licensing process is progressing through a competitive allocation stage, with applications scheduled to open in October 2026.
GLI to Support Operators and Suppliers Entering the Market
GLI’s approval allows operators and suppliers preparing to enter New Zealand to access the company’s iGaming testing and compliance services as they work to meet the technical and regulatory requirements of the new framework.
“New Zealand represents an important development for regulated iGaming in the APAC region, and we are delighted that GLI is approved to support this new market. As operators and suppliers prepare for licensing and market entry, our teams are ready to help them understand and efficiently navigate the technical requirements of the new regulatory framework,” said Richard Howarth, Managing Director of GLI APAC.
“GLI has decades of experience supporting regulators, operators, and suppliers as new gaming markets develop around the world. Combining that global iGaming expertise with the knowledge and capabilities of our APAC teams means we can provide clients entering New Zealand with both international experience and strong regional support,” he added.
Global Expertise and Regional Presence
GLI provides testing, certification, cybersecurity and professional services to the global gaming industry, serving more than 710 regulated gaming jurisdictions worldwide.
The company maintains a significant presence across Asia-Pacific, with laboratories in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, Australia, as well as operations throughout the broader region.
This regional infrastructure, combined with its international experience, positions GLI to assist gaming businesses navigating regulatory requirements in emerging and newly regulated markets.
GLI Expands Its Support for Emerging iGaming Markets
The approval in New Zealand builds on GLI’s recent work supporting the development of regulated iGaming markets worldwide.
Earlier in 2026, GLI became the first independent gaming testing laboratory accredited by PAGCOR to test and certify iGaming platforms in the Philippines. In August, the company was officially listed by Uzbekistan’s regulator among the laboratories whose testing and certification reports are accepted.
With its approval in New Zealand, GLI continues to expand its role in supporting regulators, operators and suppliers as new online gambling frameworks take shape across international markets.
