(Santiago).- Online betting house and casino operators met with the Senate to discuss future market trends in this country.

Operators in Chile show their discontent over the online betting bill

The iGaming sector in Chile continues to be one of the main topics of debate in this country, especially given the discussion of the new regulatory framework by the Senate.

Representatives of various iGaming platforms, which include sports betting houses and online casinos, met in session with the Economy Commission to establish dialogue.

The meeting was also attended by important members of the Chilean Charity Poll and the Superintendence of Gaming Casinos.

In a meeting that took place on March 5, various managers spoke. These were part of globally recognized companies, such as 1xBET, BetWarrior, Betano, CoolBet and Betsson.

WHAT IS THE FUTURE OF ONLINE BETTING IN CHILE?

One of the main issues addressed by the lawyers of the service providing companies in this sector focused on the fact that there is currently no legal provision to prevent operators from offering their services in the country.

In addition, some aspects of the bill were questioned. This would include the blocking of brands that operated in Chilean territory in the last twelve months, before the implementation of the new regulations.

Likewise, company directors expressed their disagreement over the payment of taxes that were established for companies with a presence in Chile in the last two years. Something that was classified as an attack on constitutional rights.

THE POSITION OF THE CASINO SUPERINTENDENCY

On the other hand, the Casino Superintendency showed its position, based on the statement of director Vivien Villagran. The executive emphasized that without regulation, the commercial exploitation of sports betting and online casino games in Chile is a crime and therefore will be penalized by the competent authorities.

Likewise, Villagran commented that at the moment the only institutions authorized to offer gaming products of this nature are companies with current licenses. This is the case of the Concepción Lottery, the racetracks and the Polla Chilena de Beneficencia.
