(Brasilia).- The parliamentary front launched this week in the House aims to approve the bill that creates a regulatory framework for gambling in Brazil (PL 442/91).
The front coordinator, Deputy Bacelar (Can-BA), thinks there is no reason to ban gambling in Brazil. This is because, even with the ban, Brazilians play a lot, and Bacelar estimates that the practice will move more than R $ 60 billion per year.
From the front data, the gaming segment generates 650 thousand right jobs and 600 thousand indirect jobs. In addition, according to the deputy, the activity, if regulated, can generate about R $ 18 billion of taxes for the country.
"For a country that urgently needs a resumption of economic growth, it does not justify banning an activity. And an innocuous ban, because the Brazilian plays. The Brazilian plays in the official lotteries, the Brazilian daily plays jodo do bicho, plays on the internet, plays in the bingos. Brazil does not collect, but the Brazilian yes, they play," said Bacelar.
The parliamentarian stressed that in Latin America only Bolivia and Brazil have not legalized gambling. He recalled that the ban on gambling has been in place since 1946.
The proposal put forward by the parliamentary front, which regulates gambling in Brazil, has already been approved by a special commission and is ready for voting in the Plenary.
