(Brazil).- In an interview with the Brazilian media outlet Valor, the president of the Chamber of Deputies, Arthur Lira (PP-AL), recognized that with regard to gambling in the country, there is a social fact that must be faced by the Chamber of Deputies.

´We are not inventing what does not exist, the idea is to regulate the game so that it leaves resources in Brazil´

See what the president of the Chamber said about the legalization of two games in the interview:

In the interview, Lira says that the reforms will only go ahead after October, as well as the election of the Court of Accounts of the Federation (TCU), but anticipates the examination of a PEC to end the landings of the Navy, defends a “ framework of guarantees” to stimulate access to credit, the legalization of games of chance and the project to criminalize the dissemination of “fake news” – which “cannot become a national controversy” on the prohibition of Telegram. For him, the platform, one of the Bolsonaristas' favorites, needs to open a branch in the country to submit to national laws.

Take a look at what the mayor had to say about gambling legalization in the interview:

Valor: Will the legalization of gambling also be approved?
Lira: The evangelical caucus made calls not to vote in the remote system. After the Carnival, we will return to the face-to-face system, but we can vote on the project beforehand. Games exist in Brazil, in full view of everyone, and they don't pay a single real in taxes. They sponsor the Brazilian team even the humblest team, there are 800,000 bingo machines working in the country. We are not inventing what does not exist, the idea is to regulate it so that it leaves resources in Brazil and generates jobs.

Leaders meeting
The vote for this Tuesday and Wednesday will be decided at the leaders' meeting on Tuesday (15). According to UOL's 'To Begin the Week' column, the "Full House may vote on the bill allowing gambling; the date has not yet been set." The chances of approval are high, despite the opposition of the evangelical caucus. The CNBB also said that it is against it.” The political website Poder 360 takes a different view. “Casino legalization is also on the radar, but deliberation is less likely. There is a lot of resistance from the Evangelical Bank.”
