From the physical to the digital world: keys to choosing a technology partner
⏱ 3 min read
(Chile).- As different players in online gaming and sports betting in Latin America have been experiencing, the activity is living a "great wave", which not only requires being up to date in terms of technologies and user preferences, but also invites to review which aspect adds value, from the different roles.
It is expected to be a year of consolidation of the industry beyond the ups and downs of the pandemic, and there is certainly expectation regarding the advancement of regulations that will open up opportunities in various countries in the region, such as Brazil and Chile. In this sense, it is also expected that more physical gaming companies seek to enter the online world, which poses great challenges, since they are two completely different business visions.
In the transition from the physical to the digital, looking for a reliable and experienced technology partner is key.
Karin Martínez, IT Manager at Latamwin, a Latin American company specializing in the development of digital platforms for online gaming and sports betting, points out what an operator should consider when choosing a platform that allows them to develop their online business successfully and sustainably in time.
⦁ Providers: It is important that the selected platform has a wide variety of providers, both the “biggest” and the “smallest”. “When a physical company moves to the online world, it must look at the number of providers that the platform has integrated, since this allows a greater catalog of games to be obtained, covering greater user tastes. This undoubtedly makes it even more attractive,” says Martínez. You also have to consider the number of users who participate daily and new subscribers.
⦁ Identity verification: There are a number of technologies that allow greater support when it comes to identity verification, which help ensure that users are effectively the owners of the accounts through which they access. One of the latest advances in this regard is biometrics, which uses biological parameters, widely used in the financial industry.
⦁ Scalable and highly available infrastructure: This allows the business to grow without problems or major shocks. There are platforms that have a maximum of customers playing at the same time or that show failures due to an unexpected increase in users. “It is always convenient to carry out tests. We have done them with up to 10,000 users playing at the same time and the normal flow has not been altered. In other words, the infrastructure is designed for them”, adds the Latamwin expert.
⦁ Integration capacity: While some platforms can take up to almost a month, there are others that do it quickly. In addition, it is convenient to check that they have all the means of payment.
⦁ Certifications: Certifications account for the standards with which the companies operate, which usually give guarantees in terms of quality, security and integrity of the game, which always impacts the client and its users. “The GLI-19 standard is the most demanding worldwide. We were recently the first company in the region to submit to the new version of this standard, GLI-19 3.0”, Karin points out.
⦁ Committed team: As important as the previous points, it is to have the advice of a professional and human team that is responsible, experienced and committed to the success of its clients. “You have to assess whether the selected partner has had a successful track record, with sustained growth. In addition, it is worth reviewing how the online casinos that are already operating work and the opinion of the users, which is very valuable along with the ability of the teams to solve problems."
