(Mexico).- The casino industry is rooted in Mexico, as it has proven to be a country that leaves much to chance. It is an economic sector that generates 35,000 direct jobs and 105,000 indirectly.
In addition, it is estimated that last year the industry will end close to 500 million pesos in gross income. And the best thing is that the number seems to be increasing.
That is why the quality of online casinos in Mexico has improved, competition has made them grow. Now there is a variety of Mexican online casinos with no deposit bonus, which also have a wide range of slots, live games such as poker and bingo, as well as VIP game rooms. And the future is brighter.
33% GROWTH BETWEEN ANNUAL 2020-2026
According to the research firm 6wResearch, the Mexican market will grow 33% in a sustained manner annually by the end of the 2020-2026 period.
That's quite an impressive figure that adds up to a total of more than 200%, especially when you consider that between 2009 and 2019, the increase in players was more than 1,000%.
The health crisis halted progress, but an economic recovery is finally beginning to match the levels of 2019, which is good for all industries but especially for the casino, since it is an industry that depends on tourism and the prosperity in personal finance.
Probably the most compelling data comes from a UNAM survey, which shows that only 0.3% of the population has online gaming as recurring entertainment. Never before rather, casinos are betting on attracting the attention of more users and gaining their own share of the market, which they are more likely to make loyal customers if they choose them as their first casino. That is why now the competition is so tough and advertising is so present.
However, Mexico is promoting a modification to the laws that allows it to regularize the industry through the SEGOB, as well as collect more taxes from this growing industry.
CHALLENGES TO COME FOR THE INDUSTRY
Of course, not everything is rosy and there are some scenarios to overcome.
The clearest are the current regulations of the government, which is withholding new casino permits, being faithful to what AMLO promised at election time.
However, governors of the federal entities and presidents of municipalities and mayors think that the measure should be studied carefully, since for some localities it would be very beneficial to have new sources of tax collection. So there is hope for operators.
Another challenge is to expand Internet access to the population, currently only 76.3% of Mexicans have a connection at home. Although it is true that it is an increase of more than 10% in less than six years, there is still room for improvement.
As more Mexicans have access to the internet and have their own mobile device, internet gambling will continue to grow in Mexico and competition will lead to better odds, RTPs, bonuses and games.
