The online betting business exceeds 5 B euros in Spain

(Spain).- The Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling has made public the information of the collection of the online gaming sector for the third quarter of 2019. Until September last year, it had collected 5,2 billion euros.
The online gaming sector keeps on growing in the Spanish market. Players can choose among a variety of proposals, including: betting, bingo, casino with paypal, contests or poker. Being the betting sector the segment with the greatest Growth Gaming Revenue, representing more than 52%, followed by casinos, with the 34,71%, shortening distances with betting, and winning a market share that has passed from 27.7 to 34.7% in 3 years.
Until September, online gaming had exceeded 5.2 billion euros in collection, which represents an inter annual improvement of 2%. With the companies expecting that the business exceeds 7 billion by the end of the year, and with a gaming investment that grew exponentially for Spaniards. As shown by the Directorate General for the Regulation of Gambling , with states an expense of 1,9 billion euros for the first quarter 2015.
The monthly average of active accounts is 869,4999 until September 2019. With a 0.96% growth regarding the same quarter last yeat, and a monthly average of new accounts of 253,678 (without considering if the same person has suscribed in more than one operator), with a monthly variation of 7.08%.
Nowadays, Spain has 80 licensed operators. According to the last quarterly report, the following operations have been carried out in these gaming segments:
Bets: 37
Bingo: 3
Casino: 42
Contests: 2
Poker: 9
Bets, the sports allies
Betting centers are an important partner of the sports world in Spain. Such as the case of football, for example, in which 19 of 20 clubs from La Liga are sponsored by one of those companies. Being Real Madrid the latest sports club in signing a sponsor agreement of that kind, and with up to 7 teams belonging to La Liga using a logo of a betting house. There is only one team that decided to make a consultation on the sponsorship of a betting firm: La Real Sociedad, whose people rejected an agreement that could have allowed the club to win up to 2,5 million euros.
This year, clubs such as
Valencia CF or Sevilla FC release their main sponsors, bwin and Marathonbet, respectively.
Although influence of big companies of the sector goes beyond that, with the ACB and LaLiga announcing important agreements with 888Sport and Sportium.
