Innovation and emerging risks in gaming

In his September 2 letter, Maida said innovation has become both “gaming’s greatest asset” and a growing source of risk as threats facing the industry become increasingly sophisticated.

Against this backdrop, he emphasized GLI’s role as a partner for gaming stakeholders navigating regulatory and technological complexity through an integrated offering covering testing, compliance, cybersecurity and regulatory expertise.

“GLI was built to meet this moment,” Maida wrote, positioning the company’s services as part of its response to the rapidly changing risk environment affecting the gaming sector.

Cybersecurity becomes a central industry priority

Maida identified cybersecurity as one of the clearest examples of how gaming’s risk landscape is evolving. He noted that protecting gaming integrity increasingly requires organizations to understand and secure a broader range of interconnected systems.

Through GLI Secure, the company helps gaming organizations identify vulnerabilities and strengthen their defenses before those weaknesses become liabilities.

However, Maida stressed that cybersecurity defense alone is not sufficient and highlighted the importance of knowledge sharing and ongoing education across the industry.

GLI expands education and regulatory engagement

The letter also highlighted GLI University, which provides year-round education for regulators, operators and suppliers.

Maida pointed to the company’s Regulators Roundtable as another example of GLI’s collaborative approach. According to the CEO, the event has developed into an international forum focused on the risks and technologies shaping the gaming industry.

The next edition is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas from April 6-8, 2027.

More than 118,000 certification letters issued

GLI also used the letter to highlight the scale of its global laboratory operation.

Maida stated that GLI remains the only gaming laboratory serving every jurisdiction where independent laboratory testing is required. During the past year, the company issued more than 118,000 certification letters to over 2,000 suppliers.

The CEO said this international footprint is intended to ensure that GLI can support gaming companies regardless of the markets in which they operate.

GLI enters a new phase following strategic investment

A key point of the letter was the announcement that GLI is entering a new stage of development following the first strategic investment in the company’s history.

According to Maida, the investment will provide GLI with greater capacity to strengthen its technology and expertise. He stressed that the company’s growth strategy is ultimately aimed at preserving its longstanding commitment to customers.

“Every phase of growth is meant to protect what hasn’t changed: our commitment to the people who trust us to get this right,” Maida stated.

The CEO concluded by emphasizing that the gaming industry will continue to evolve alongside GLI, with the company seeking to remain prepared for emerging technologies, regulatory requirements and risks.

He also highlighted GLI’s international workforce of more than 1,600 experts, thanking clients and partners for their continued trust.
