(Macau).- The World Series of Poker has confirmed to Inside Asian Gaming that it will accept any vaccines authorized by either the US Food and Drug Administration or the World Health Organization for use globally at this year’s series.

WSOP to accept all WHO-approved vaccinations for upcoming series

The official policy, implemented by WSOP owner Caesars Entertainment, opens the door for international players to return to the world’s biggest poker series in 2021 ahead of its 30 September start at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.

IAG had asked the WSOP for confirmation after a number of international players expressed concern over whether or not they would be allowed entry.

In response, a WSOP spokesman said, “The 2021 WSOP will accept all vaccines approved or authorized for emergency use by the FDA or World Health Organization (WHO) for someone to be considered fully vaccinated and eligible to participate.

“Specifically the following vaccines are acceptable – Pfizer (BioNTech) Moderna, J&J (Jansen) Oxford/AstraZeneca, Sinopharm (BBIBP) Sinovac, Covishield. We reserve the right to modify the list in the future.”

Documentation showing a person has received two different shots from this approved list will also be accepted, the WSOP said.

The update comes after the WSOP last week announced a new vaccination policy for this year’s series under which all players and any other attendees will be required to show proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 before entry.
