Detroit Casinos Post $118, 87M in April Revenue as Gaming and Sports Betting Show Growth

April was a very good month for the three Detroit commercial casinos, as their April revenue was the highest since 2019.

Commercial casinos in Detroit generated a combined $118.87 million in aggregate revenue (AGR) during April 2026, according to newly released figures. Revenue was fueled primarily by table games and slot activity, while retail sports betting also delivered notable year-over-year growth.

Table games and slots accounted for $118.03 million, while retail sports betting contributed $837,397 in qualified adjusted gross receipts (QAGR).

Market Shares Remain Stable

The figures highlight MGM’s continued dominance within Detroit’s land-based casino sector.

Table Games and Slots Deliver Strong Growth

Casino table games and slot revenue increased 7.8% compared with April 2025 and rose 5.8% over March 2026 results.

For the first four months of the year, from January through April, overall gaming revenue climbed 1.4% year-over-year, indicating steady market expansion.

MGM recorded the strongest annual growth rate among the three operators.

State and Local Tax Contributions Increase

Detroit casinos paid $9.6 million in state gaming taxes during April, compared with $8.9 million in the same month last year.

In addition, operators submitted $14 million in wagering taxes and development agreement payments to the City of Detroit, reinforcing the sector’s role as a significant source of public revenue.

Retail Sports Betting Revenue Continues Upward Trend

Retail sports betting activity also showed positive momentum.

Detroit casinos generated $8.74 million in total retail sports betting handle in April, producing $868,546 in gross receipts.

Qualified adjusted gross receipts rose by $520,859 compared with April 2025 and increased 3.3% from March 2026.
