Tax contribution of gaming casinos authorized by Law No. 19,995 reaches USD 19.3 M in June 2023

(Santiago de Chile).- The collection is distributed in $7,202 million (US$ 6,143 m) paid by the 19,995 casinos to the communes and regional governments in which they are located, $6,959 million (US$ 5,935 m) in VAT on gambling and $2,377 million (US$ 2,027 m) in tax on tickets.

Discounting inflation, the 25 gaming casinos that operate in the country registered gross gaming income (win) for $46,954 (US$ 40,050) in June 2023, which, in real terms, was 2.4% lower than those obtained in June 2023. See statistical bulletin

The 22 casinos 19,995 contributed a total of $16,537 million (US$ 14,105 m) in taxes in the month of June, increasing the taxes contributed in June 2022 by 1.8% in real terms.

The amounts added at the industry level are divided into $7,202 million (US$ 6,143 m) that correspond to the specific tax on gaming, destined to regional governments and municipalities to finance development works, in addition to $6,959 million (US$ 5,935 m) associated with the payment of VAT for gaming income and $2,377 million (US$ 2,027 m) corresponding to the tax for entrance to the gambling halls, which are destined to the general funds of the nation.

The regional governments and municipalities receive the funds from the specific gaming tax the month following their payment by the operating companies. Therefore, these resources will be received in September 2023.

The distribution of taxes collected by the operation for the month of April 2023 is shown in the following table:

Income and visits

Discounting inflation, the 25 gaming casinos that operate in the country registered gross gaming income (win) for $46,954 (US$ 40,050) in June 2023, which, in real terms, was 2.4% lower than those obtained in June 2023. 

Regarding visits, 565,872 people were registered who entered the 25 casinos in operation, which is equivalent to an increase of 12% compared to June 2022.

In addition, during June an average expense of $81,205 (US$ 69,265) per visit was recorded, which implies a decrease in real terms of 13% compared to June 2022.
