Denmark: Small increase in gambling spend in February

(Denmark).- Danish gambling spend increased by 0.6 per cent in February 2025 compared to the same month last year. The total increase was driven by an rise in the spending on online casino.
The amount of money spent on gambling by Danish citizens saw a modest rise of 0.6% in February 2025 when compared to the same period in the previous year. This growth is primarily attributed to a noticeable uptick in expenditure on online casinos, which has become a driving force in the country's gambling market. The increase indicates a shift in consumer preferences, with more individuals opting for digital gaming platforms over traditional forms of gambling.
This trend reflects the growing popularity and accessibility of online casinos, which continue to attract users with a diverse range of games and convenience. The slight yet significant increase highlights the evolving dynamics of Denmark's gambling industry, with online platforms playing a central role in its expansion.
While online casino saw a growth in February 2025 compared with February 2024, the statistics show a fall in the spending on betting, gaming machines, and land-based casino.

Total statistics on 2024 published
The spending on lotteries in 2024 is included in this edition of the monthly statistics. It means that the total gambling spend on the Danish gambling market in 2024 sum to DKK 11bn. It is an increase of DKK 581m compared to 2023 corresponding to 5.6 per cent (2024-prices).
The report analyzes the following markets: online gaming, land-based casinos, gaming machines, lotteries and betting.
The Danish Gambling Authority
It is an executive authority under the Danish Ministry of Taxation, which is responsible for ensuring a well-regulated gambling market in Denmark where players are protected against unfair and illegal gambling.
The Danish Gambling Authority is tasked with the administration of gambling legislation, including lotteries, betting, online casinos, gaming machines, public poker tournaments, and land-based casinos.
