Iowa Casino Revenue Hits $1.7B: A Look at FY 2026 Growth

(Sioux City, Iowa).- Despite tightening personal budgets, Iowa's casino industry experienced a resilient fiscal year 2026, generating $1.7 billion overall, driven by an impressive surge in sports wagering and a strong focus on local tourism.
Anyone looking for a big win at any of Iowa’s licensed casinos isn’t letting a tighter budget keep them from playing a game of chance. Revenue for Iowa-based casinos in fiscal year 2026 grew by 1.3%, reaching a massive $1.7 billion overall. The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission (IRGC) is officially calling it a strong period for the Iowa gaming landscape.
Sports Wagering and Local Casino Gains
Sports wagering saw considerable expansion in 2026, up almost 15% year-to-year, according to IRGC Administrator Tina Eick. Siouxland, which is home to three licensed casinos, also saw notable gains across the board.
“Hard Rock was up about 2.5%, and Emmetsburg was up about 4%,” said Eick. “Grand Falls was a little bit behind that at down 1%, but overall strong numbers.”
In all, Hard Rock topped the region with $93 million in adjusted gross revenue, while Wild Rose continues to successfully operate the casino in Emmetsburg.
Strategic Upgrades and Future Expansion
With personal budgets getting tightened every day, this continuous growth may come as a surprise to some. However, Eick says that casino relationships with non-profit partners and a strict attention to detail have helped build stability in local markets, keeping numbers steadily above those seen before the pandemic.
“I think that’s a testament to the operators really taking the challenge that the commission has given them to keep their properties updated and fresh, and their amenities relevant,” said Eick. “Iowans and people in the region really supporting that vision and embracing local tourism.”
The state's gaming industry is set to expand even further later this year. Iowa’s 20th and newest casino, Cedar Crossing, is scheduled to open its doors in Cedar Rapids in November 2026.
