(Douglas).- The sportsbook provider will support Wildz Group’s expansion into Finland ahead of the country’s regulated online gambling market launch, scheduled for July 2027.
Wildz Group Secures Finnish Gambling Licence
Sportsbook provider Altenar is powering Wildz Group’s entry into Finland’s newly regulated online gambling market, marking another step in the operator’s international expansion strategy.
The Malta-based iGaming company has become the first operator to publicly announce that it has secured an online gambling licence in Finland. The authorisation will allow Wildz Group to operate in the country when the regulated market opens in July 2027.
Altenar and Wildz Group have been partners since 2024, with the sportsbook provider supporting the operator’s expansion beyond its casino-focused business model across multiple markets.
Partnership Supports Localised Sports Betting Offering
The Finnish expansion builds on the companies’ existing collaboration, combining Altenar’s regional expertise, Nordic trading specialists and localised content to support Wildz Group’s growth ambitions.
Wildz Group CEO Sam Brown highlighted the importance of the partnership in developing the company’s sports betting offering.
“Altenar has been central to the success of our Global sports betting offering, and we anticipate a superb response in Finland once the market opens in July 2027. With the flexibility of the Altenar toolkit we will be able to build an industry-leading sports betting experience for Finnish players,” Brown said.
Dinos Stranomitis, COO at Altenar, also emphasised the importance of technology and local market knowledge when entering regulated jurisdictions.
“Finland’s move towards a competitive online gambling market represents an important development for the industry. Entering a new regulated market requires the right technology, flexibility and a clear understanding of local requirements.
“We are pleased to power Wildz Group’s entry into Finland and support its ambitions with sportsbook technology designed to adapt to different market conditions and business objectives,” Stranomitis said.
Finland Prepares for a New Regulatory Framework
Finland is among the latest European countries to transition from a state monopoly to a licensing system for online gambling. The application process opened on 1 March 2026, attracting significant interest from operators ahead of the planned market launch.
For Altenar, the agreement reinforces its strategy of providing sportsbook technology that enables operators to enter regulated markets while adapting their products to local requirements and long-term business objectives.
The partnership positions both companies to capitalise on the opportunities expected to emerge as Finland prepares to open its online gambling market to competition in 2027.
