MERKUR UK’s 200 Venue Managers to Receive City & Guilds Assured Safer Gambling Training
⏱ 1 min read
(United Kingdom).- The second phase of MERKUR UK’s safer gambling training is fully underway with 200 venue managers drawn from both MERKUR Slots and MERKUR Bingo undertaking the City & Guilds Assured programme which is being provided courtesy of a partnership between leading charities, YGAM and Betknowmore.
The highly respected training programme consists of ten one day online facilitated workshops with each workshop attended by circa 20 MERKUR Venue Managers.
Ian Shanahan, Head of Partnerships at YGAM said: “There can be no doubt that MERKUR UK is fully committed to delivering a safe gambling experience to all of its customers and providing its 200 venue managers with a City & Guilds Assured certificate that they can take on their career path is a significant investment on behalf of the brand.”
He continued: “The training centres on an understanding of what’s meant by customer vulnerability and understanding gambling related harm. Trainers with lived experience are helping to define the customer journey, exploring what the ‘know your customer’ philosophy entails and providing a tool kit of skills to help the consumer facing team to know when and how to intervene with players should it be necessary.”
Tony Boulton, Director of Public and Political Relations at MERKUR UK added: “We launched our safer gambling 360 Program in October 2020 and it’s highly encouraging that within a year we will have delivered City & Guilds Assured safer gambling training to all of our regional and our venue managers across both MERKUR Slots and MERKUR Bingo. The venue teams play a key role in delivering safer gambling and detailed training delivered by expert organisations such as YGAM and Betknowmore is fundamental to achieving that core objective.”
