(St Gallen and New York).- Sportradar has been chosen by Tennis Channel, following a comprehensive RFP process, to power the launch of the network’s direct-to-consumer (DTC) streaming platform, which, for the first time, will include access to Tennis Channel’s marquee, 24/7 linear-channel alongside thousands of hours of live and on-demand matches and original programming.
Sportradar will develop the new service, expected to be available to all tennis fans in the U.S in early 2024, with a focus on creating a seamless, direct-to-consumer experience incorporating dynamic data integrations and a wide range of user-friendly features.
Sportradar is utilizing its award-winning OTT solution to help manage the end-to-end workflow of Tennis Channel’s DTC service, including the delivery of a cutting edge UX design, development of all connected TV apps, such as Samsung TV, Fire TV, Roku, or Apple TV, and the OTT backend, video encoding for all events and integration of relevant third parties as the main technical integrator. This new platform will be optimized to scale with the growing demand of Tennis Channel’s subscriber base. Key features of the delivery include multi-channel video programming distributor (MVPD) integration to service authenticated cable customers as well as dynamic advertising integration to enable effective monetization of the service.
“Tennis fans in the U.S. deserve a dynamic viewing experience that delivers the best tennis content and live matches right to their fingertips. With Sportradar’s industry-leading data-driven, end-to-end OTT solution, Tennis Channel will have all the tools and capabilities to meet the needs of their fans all over the U.S.,” said Patrick Mostboeck, SVP, Audiovisual at Sportradar. “We are thrilled to work closely with Tennis Channel to deliver a platform that allows them to continue to grow engagement with the sport of tennis.”
“Tennis Channel has a longstanding relationship with Sportradar as we’ve worked together to bring Tennis Channel’s unparalleled coverage of the sport of tennis to markets outside the U.S.” said Andy Reif, senior vice president, Tennis Channel International. “Now, we’re extremely excited to work with them to bring our flagship linear Tennis Channel directly to tennis fans throughout the U.S. via a new, best-in-class streaming platform, something they haven’t had the chance to enjoy before.”
Sportradar’s relationship with Tennis Channel dates back to 2019, as the media company’s global data partner and the provider of their international OTT platform. Sportradar has more than 15 years of experience as the leading sports OTT provider, combining video and data to create personalized fan experiences and unlock the potential to understand and commercialize fans. This new partnership adds to an already impressive portfolio of OTT clients that includes the NHL, B1G Network, and FanDuel, and further bolsters Sportradar as a leader in the sport of tennis.
