(Lima, SoloAzar Exclusive).- The new institutions seek to promote prevention, education and awareness around responsible gambling, with special attention to lotteries, online games and sports betting.

Peru: All the details on the creation of AIGER and IPJR

Sergio Poves Gaming & Tech Regulation Expert and Legal & Regulatory Advisor to International Brands presented a project developed under the premise that the gaming industry must assume an active social role in terms of prevention, education and care of people. The initiative contemplates the creation of the Association of Regulated iGaming and Responsible Entertainment (AIGER) and the Peruvian Institute of Conscious and Responsible Gaming (IPJR).

AIGER and IJRI

AIGER arises as an initiative aimed at contributing to the responsible development of the lotteries, online games and sports betting industry in Peru.

As part of this social approach, the IPJR was also created, from which training, awareness-raising and prevention spaces related to responsible gambling and problematic gambling behaviors will be promoted.

Details of the Workshop with the Huancayo Benevolent Society

The first movement of the initiative was the realization of an online workshop aimed at the collaborators of the Huancayo Benevolent Society.

The opening of the meeting was attended by the Directorate of Charitable Societies of the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations (MIMP).

In this sense, Sergio Poves highlighted the importance of this first approach and the potential of charitable societies as allies to promote a preventive culture within the lottery sector.

“Our first step was an online workshop aimed at the collaborators of the Huancayo Charitable Society, which was opened with the participation of the Directorate of Charitable Societies of the Ministry of Women and Vulnerable Populations. For us, this approach is especially important because we believe that charities can become great allies to bring this preventive culture to the field of lotteries in Peru”, Poves explained.

Betshield Participation and Responsible Pause

On the first day, Betshield Responsible Gaming, represented by Thiago Iusim, and Pausa Responsable, represented by Rodrigo Gajardo Muñoz and Carlos Arriagada, also participated.

The participants are part of the AIGER partners who joined this educational initiative and contributed their experience and expertise.

A preventive look at responsible gambling

The proposal presented by Poves states that responsible gambling should not start when a problem appears. On the contrary, he argues that the approach must be initiated beforehand through information, education and tools that allow people to relate to entertainment in a conscious way.

From this perspective, the workshop held with the Huancayo Benevolent Society is the first step in an initiative that aims to develop new actions in the field of prevention and education within the Peruvian sector.

Education and prevention as axes

Poves' view holds that responsible gambling must be addressed before problematic behavior appears. Under this approach, information, education and the availability of preventive tools occupy a central place.

In this sense, AIGER and IPJR propose to develop new training and awareness spaces aimed at different actors linked to industry and society.

The workshop held together with the Huancayo Benevolent Society represents, according to the organization, the beginning of an institutional agenda that will seek to consolidate a culture of conscious and responsible gambling in Peru.
